Hong Kong Horse Racing
In Hong Kong, the horse racing is fully run by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which provides racing entertainment and races for charity.The two major racecourses in Hong Kong are Happy Valley and Sha Tin. Happy Valley Racecourse Established in 1846, Happy Valley racecourse is situated at 2 Sports Road, Happy Valley, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Admission to the racecourse is HK$10.00. Horse racing is the only legal form of gambling in Hong Kong and it's taken very seriously. Races are even held at night, with bright lights, and winnings for the right horse can be huge. The horse racing season in Happy Valley is from September to June, with meeting held on Wednesday evenings. Occasionally meetings are held on Saturday or Sunday afternoons if the other racecourse at Sha Tin is being repaired or preparing for an international meet. Sha Tin Racecourse Sha Tin racecourse is located in the New Territories and is the location of several world renowned races. These include The Hong Kong Cup, The Hong Kong Mile, The Hong Kong Vase and the Hong Kong Sprint. Sha Tin racecourse can be reached on Kowloon Canton Railway and by stopping at Racecourse Station. If you are staying in Hong Kong as a tourist for less then 21 days, you can purchase a member guest badge to visit the Member Stand. The racing season is from September to June. There are two 'Come Horse Racing Tours' organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board for overseas visitors staying in Hong Kong for less than 21 days.
