Woodbine
Horse Racing Originally established in 1881,
the Woodbine Entertainment Group own two racetracks in Ontario, Woodbine and
Mohawk. Woodbine provides both thoroughbred and standardbred races, whilst
Mohawk only holds standardbred races. As of 1971, the Woodbine Entertainment
Group became a non-for-profit organisation, with the aim of providing "horse
racing of the highest quality, at the best facilities possible, for the
benefit of the public and all industry participants".
When visiting Woodbine, you must remember that it is
not possible to bet with US currency. However, Woodbine do provide an
exchange facility.
Parking and general admission are both free at
Woodbine, if you would prefer valet parking, it is available for $8.00 at
Woodbine and $5.00 at Mohawk.
Children are welcome at Woodbine and Mohawk, from two
hours before the first race and until one hour after the last race. You
cannot place a bet at the mutuel windows unless you are aged 18 years or
over. The minimum bet at Woodbine and Mohawk is $2.00. You must be 19 years or
over to enter the slot machine areas.
It is possible to dine whilst watching the racing.
Woodbine and Mohawk provide smoke free restaurants, but it is recommended
that you make a reservation. It is possible to make a reservation up to two
weeks in advance. If you wish to make a reservation, you can contact
