Kentucky Horse Racing The Kentucky Derby is
the most difficult sports event to reserve seats for. The only opportunity
is to apply in writing a year in advance, and even then you are not
guaranteed a very good seat. This year, general admission is $40.00 and this
only allows you access to the infield or paddock area.
It is possible to purchase tickets outside the gates
on Derby day, but be careful if you do. It is illegal to buy or sell tickets
for more than their value. You are safe if you only pay the face value of
the ticket (or less!) but just make sure that the ticket is genuine.
If you really want a reserved seat, you can purchase
them, but you will end up paying up to 10 times more than their worth. Try
the online auctions for more realistic ticket prices.
The rules of what you can bring into the park have
drastically changed. The gates open at 8am. Each visitor will be inspected
with a magnetic wand at the entrance gate. Dress code will be smart casual.
There is no onsite parking available, except for VIPs.
There are advised methods explained on the website provided below.
