Horse Barrel Racing

As shown in the picture to the left, barrel
racing has a distinct pattern to it.
Barrel racing requires the minimum of
equipment, a saddle, a bridle and a helmet if you are a beginner. Once you
have the equipment, all you need is the horse.
Most competitors in horse barrel racing like
to use quarter horses, as they are known for their good temperament, speed
and agility. Other horses such as Paints, Appaloosas and Pintos are also
popular horses. It is advised that thoroughbred horses are not used for
these races, as due to their high-strung nature they cannot make turns with
accurate and controlled precision.
You can barrel race at any age, and if you
want to compete, there are shows in various locations for different ages.
