Horse Racing
Del Mar race track has entertained stars such as Ava Gardner and Mickey
Rooney amongst many more. The racecourse is located in Del Mar city, 20
miles north of downtown San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles. The
gates are opened at midday on weekdays and at 11:30am at the weekends. The
track has events running from July 23rd until September 10th, with no events
on Tuesdays.
Admission ranges from $3.00 and $8.00, depending on
the seating that you choose. You can book restaurant tables (seating four)
for $48.00 on weekdays, plus admission. On weekends, tables are $60, plus
admission. For general or early bird parking the cost is $5.00 , valet
parking costs $15.00.
Children aged 17 years and under are allowed entry to
the park, free of charge. They must be accompanied by an adult. Only persons
18 years and over are allowed to place bets, and no alcohol will be served
to persons under 21 years.
There are three restaurants at Del Mar, the Clubhouse
Terrace Restaurant, the Cafe del Sol and the Stretch Run Grill. Reservations
for the restaurants can be made by contacting 858-792-4272.
Tickets can be purchased from the Ticket Office
between 9:00am and 5:00pm Wednesday to Monday. On Tuesdays, you can ring
between 9:00am and 12:00pm, and between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Call 858-792-4242
to book tickets.
