California Horse Racing
Del Mar race track was originally built in 1937 by Bing Crosby, Pat
O'Brien and Paramount Studios. It covers 350 acres and incorporates a track
which can hold approximately 14,000 people, as well as a scenic paddock. The
track has entertained stars such as Ava Gardner and Mickey Rooney amongst
many more. The gates are open from midday on weekdays and 11:30am on
weekends. Admission will cost between $3.00 and $8.00 depending on which seating
you would prefer.
Hollywood Park is aptly named when you
consider the celebrities which are associated with this track. Shareholders
have included Walt Disney, Bing Crosby and Al Jolson. Admission ranges from
$7and $20 depending on entry level, this price includes parking and a
program. Children aged 17 and under can enter free when accompanied by an
adult.
Santa Anita covers 320 acres, and has a
1,100 foot long Grandstand which has the capacity to seat approximately
26,000 visitors. The gates open at 11:00am on weekdays and 10:30 on
weekends. Admission will cost between $5.00 and $8.50, depending on where you
choose to sit. Children that are 17 years old and under will be admitted
free when accompanied by an adult.
