Horse Racing
The most famous of races held on Boxing Day is the
King George VI chase. This event is held at Kempton Park Racecourse in
London, England.
Kempton Park was originally opened as a
racecourse in 1878, by S. H. Hyde. During 1939-1946, Kempton became a
prisoner-of-war camp. When it was re-opened in 1947, it was decided that The
King George VI Chase, which was normally held in February, would be moved to
Boxing Day.
Kempton Park also stages National Hunt
racing and flat racing. The National Hunt season is from October to
February. Flat racing season is between March and September.

Entrance to the racecourse is free for
children under 16 and 25% discounts are offered when booking tickets in
