Aqueduct horse racing takes place at the Aqueduct racetrack in Queens, New
York. The track was originally opened in 1894, but further additions have
been made. In 1941, a new clubhouse and offices were built. In 1956, the
track was torn down and re-opened as the "Big A" in 1959. Finally in 1975
the inner track was altered to allow winter Aqueduct horse racing. |

Aqueduct Horse Racing Aqueduct race track
has the capacity to hold 40,000 people and 8,000 cars. The gates open at
11:00am, with Grandstand tickets at $1.00 and Clubhouse tickets at $3.00; children
under 12 can enter free of charge. General parking will cost you $1.00, but if
you opt for preferred parking you will pay $4.00. Valet parking costs $5.00. There
is handicapped parking available at Clubhouse and Grandstand. If you do not
wish to drive, there is a shuttle bus available from all general parking
areas.
If you wish to dine while at Aqueduct there are plenty
of options available. To dine in style, visit the Equestris Restaurant.
Choose from various entrees, sandwiches, salads and more. The seating charge
is $1.00, plus a minimum charge of $10.00 per person. There is a special menu for
children age 12 and under. To make reservations, call 718-529-8700 on any raceday.
Other dining options include The Man O' War Room for
sports fanatics, Big A Grill with a rotisserie themed menu, Champs Sports
Bar with monitors for sports coverage (minimum $10.00 per person), and Hello
Deli offers bagels, hot dogs and soups. There are other food courts and
concession stands available, selling hamburgers, pizza, ice cream and more.
The track provides services including binocular
rentals, ATM machines, first aid and a lost and found facility.
If the children need entertaining, there is a playroom
located on the first floor of the Grandstand. Children aged 5-12 can enjoy
various activities including games, colouring sheets, arts and crafts and
more. There is a large-screen TV and private bathroom facilities. the
playroom is open on weekends and holidays, 30 minutes before the first race
and closes after the eighth race.
